archive at year end broken

Reported by: dmunsinger Assigned to: sreilly
Priority: critical Milestone: Moneydance 2007

Description

The archive function with "Keep Old Transactions" unchecked and "Only archive cleared transactions" fails to do the appropriate thing.

I want separate files for each year for tax and accounting purposes and this function seems to be completely broken in Moneydance #531. The active file created when I specify a date of 1/1/2007 includes most of 2006 cleared transactions, and seems to decide randomly to delete transactions. The archive created seems close to a picture of the year, but with the current file so completely messed up that isn't real useful. I've used Moneydance since 2003, and I seem to remember an archive at end of year function that seems to no longer exist. What is present is broken.

This is enough to cause me to seriously consider another solution. At this point I'll have to create an entirely new file and transfer transactions - this was not necessary before and shouldn't be the case.

Any idea when or if you'll fix this?

I tried unchecking both "keep old..." and "only archive..." and I wound up with a file that kept within the dates exactly. I guess I could wait to archive until I know the past year contains no uncleared transactions, but that would be the end of January when I get my statement.

I think I'll go disgustedly back to quicken and run it under wine or vmware again. Sigh.
