I can't seem to figure out how to split one transaction across mutliple accounts. Is this possible in MOneydance 2006?

Yes, to do this click the "Split" entry on the actions (gear) popup next to the cancel/record buttons when the transaction is being edited. You can also select the "Split" entry at the top of the account/category chooser or press Command-L (Control-L on windows/linux).
