Hiding accounts on homepage

Description

Currently in MD you can check a box to hide an individual account in the homepage if the balance is zero. I'd like to see a bit more flexibility to cover more of the vagaries of accounting life. I have some old accounts (no longer in use) which I still need to keep in the data file because of transfer transactions involving other accounts I still use. But for various reasons (some of which I don't even remember!) the closing balance on at least one of these accounts isn't zero. I can enter a closing dummy transaction reducing the balance to zero, but that seems to create other complications with the double-entry method on which most accounting programs including MD are based. It would be easier if I could simply hide the old account from the homepage and/or exclude it from net-worth calculations. Quicken as I recall provides the option of selecting either or both of these.

So a possible enhancement to the account edit window could be: 1. Hide account on homepage [contextual menu: never/ always/ only if balance is zero] 2. Exclude account from account type totals and net-worth calculations. [checkbox]

P.S. It would also be good to be able to hide accounts in the accounts drop-down menu at the left of the main toolbar.

Oh, just realised that hiding accounts in menu is covered in MD preferences. But as with homepage display, still limited to zero balance accounts.

I'd like to second this - I have a pension that I can't touch until retirement (a good few years!). This is currently included on the home page, so is in my net worth total. Technically true, but I don't normally consider it like all the other investment accounts, so would like to exclude it really...

Hello - just wanted to add support (and my two cents) to this feature request:

I would love to be able to hide accounts from the home page (and subsequent net worth calculations) for accounts with balances that are not zero. I was able to do this in Quicken and wish Moneydance had a similar feature -- but for slightly different reasons: I like to keep some money in savings for "emergencies" ... and I don't want that "emergency only" money meddling with my regular net worth. Same goes for some retirement accounts.

So, I would like to see the these totals in the Net Worth Reports but not on the home page, which I rely on for day-to-day upkeep.

I see this feature request was added back in 2006 -- so wanted to bring attention to it again. I think it would be a really nice feature.

Thanks!
