Unable to record 401K matching transaction reminder in 606

Reported by: jjdmon Assigned to: sreilly
Priority: critical Milestone: Moneydance 2008
Component: general Version: 2008.beta
Keywords: record transaction reminder Cc:

Description

I have a transaction reminder set up for employer matching contributions to my 401k. The 401k account is set up as an investment account. The fields of the transaction reminder are:

Account (popup menu in upper left): my 401k investment account Date: (start date and every 14 days) Action: Xfr Check #: Dep Security: N/A (grey) Category: N/A (grey) Transfer: Salary:Employer Matching Fee Category: Investment:Administrative Fee (N/A really as there isn't a fee) Shares: N/A (grey) Price: N/A (grey) Amount: (amount of matching) Fee: blank (i.e. 0, I've tried entering 0 explicitly and it makes no difference)

This has been working for years, but now when I hit the 'Record Transaction' button nothing happens. The transaction is not recorded, the reminder is not dismissed and there is no error message or beep. I have tried deleting the reminder and recreating it thinking maybe something was incompatible with Moneydance 2008, but it didn't help. I also opened the 401k account register and used the contextual menu to create a new reminder with the 'Memorize' action using a successfully entered transaction, and that reminder also fails to record. Other transaction reminders (e.g. bills, paychecks) work ok. The problem seems limited to just that one.

I'm running Moneydance 2008 (606) on Mac OS X (10.5.2), Java version 1.5.0_13

asuming that there is no older reminder of same kind - does it still work in MD 2007?

Yes. I loaded the new file back into MD 2007 and the transaction reminder which I created using the memorize contextual action and fails to record in MD '08 works in MD '07.

I have the same problem. MD 2008 will not record reminder transactions to investment accounts. If I load the same data file with MD 2007, it works OK.

Also, the heading labels are wrong in the "Edit Transaction Reminder" window. The header shows "Description/Memo" before "C", but the data has "C" coming first.

I'm having this same problem in MD 2008 (612). Trying to use a reminder to create a new transaction in an investment account (an annuity, in my case). There are no earlier dated versions of the reminder that haven't been satisfied. All three buttons are active (Skip, Defer Reminder, and Record), with the Record button the default (jellybean blue). The Record button responds by changing to a darker blue when I click on it, and returns to the normal blue color when I release the click. But nothing else happens - the dialog just sits there. The Skip and Defer Reminder buttons perform their proper actions.
