can download transactions but no bill pay

I've been using moneydance for a couple of months. I have no problem downloading transactions but when I try to pay bills I get:

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below. A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server. Error Description: java.io.IOException: HTTP Error:500 Internal

I get this error probably 95% of the time while 5% of the time the bill pay requests go through with no problem.

My bank is Suntrust and my system is Mac OS X 10.4.8
