Right except you don't need the date.    When you start using splits the 
entry that MD displays isn't of much help.  For purchases at the hardware 
store, or items at the big box store. then you will want to change the 
default to an item description.  Almost every thing I purchase is a 
split, I have time to make all the tax entries,  amazing how much tax we 
pay over a year.

The level of detail that you want to know about your finances will be 
different than mine so use MD the way that suits you.  Good luck.
