Usually one does this when your Bank/Credit Card Statement, whatever 
arrives.  It is a cross check that MD matches your statement.  Each 
reconciled entry will have a mark  indicating it has been checked.  
Occasionally a typing error whatever will have a wrong date and it is 
easy to spot an unchecked item while scrolling through the account.
