I was just checking out the latest state of reporting before moving
some more accounts over to MD, when I tried a Capital Gains report for
last year on a brokerage account. Each sell transaction in the
brokerage account shows a gain or loss value (which I haven't examined
closely for accuracy), but the subtotals for each security, and the
grand total at the end of the account, are ZERO! Ouch!
MD606 on Mac OS X 10.5.2. This particular account has been tracked in
MD for a couple years, with transactions downloaded from Schwab. It's
distressing to see the total capital gains on the account last year is
ZERO!
And then the Cost Basis report. It appears to be in reverse alpha
sequence by security (who would have thought of that!). But, it also
shows a report line with the zero basis for the zero shares purchased
as a 'Buy' transaction on the date of every dividend recorded. Ack!
Long-held securities go on and on with all the zero-share Buys.
This just looks poor. If I thought I wanted to use reports, I'd have a
hard time deciding to go with MD.
