Moneydance is attempting to connect to the web site shown, and is
getting a bad response from the web site. Perhaps the web site was
merely overloaded due to all the people downloading MD 2008? It's hard
to say. Perhaps if you tried again. You might try seeing if you can
reach that URL through your web browser just to see if you get more
information about the problem.

You should be able to type only a few characters of each portion of the
category field. For instance "Per" might bring up "Personal", then you
can type the ":" separator and it will let you type "En" for
"Entertainment". That is, you can type the ":" separator early to avoid
having to type out the whole category name before you can choose a
sub-category.

Sub-categories are rarely used for me, but I do use some of them.
For instance, there are many "Automobile" expenses (Repairs, Fuel,
Registration, Insurance), and it is nice to see what my car is costing
me in total. Same thing for my Household, or my Recreation and
Entertainment expenses.
