Thank you Fuzzy and Larry for sharing your insight !!! Whew !!
I guess it's when theory meets reality .. And definition of terminology ..
ie Reconciling what to what?
BTW - I just deleted my original response regarding the theory of electronic
reconciliation, tertiary sources, etc etc. Too much, too wordy, .... does
it matter !!!! LOL (YES - ;=} )

That's true, but when you look at month or two or more of credit card
charges, it'll depend on your valuation of the process.. Interestingly,
since I've historically NOT recorded CC transactions, but have recorded
checking account transactions, I tend to accept to d/l CC stuff, but not my
bank checking account! my checking account, I would reconcile (and have
found a few errors over the years) - as you probably know, the micr amount
is (or has been) manually keyed on the check. I expect that cost to be the
primary reason that banks entice you and want you to use a debit card, ebill
etc instead of a physical check. (LOL - see how i digress) So folowing
that logic, it's not necessary to reconcile statements, except for paper
checks, debit memos, etc. Thus it's ok to d/l the data - and NO need to
electronically reconcile.
What Larry is doing, it's what a business should do, if they wanted be more
paperless. That's a lot of effort !!
see ya, til the next time ;=}
