Hi Hersey, Hans,
I have more of a "trust, but verify" relationship with my banks /
financial institutions. I use the transaction downloads mostly for
data entry, once or twice a week. I also scan / download,
OCR-as-necessary, file-as-PDFs and shred-if-paper most transactions,
receipts and statements. (I hate paper)
If I see a transaction I don't recognize or remember differently while
downloading and categorizing, I refer to the backup PDFs (OK, or the
pile of waiting-to-be-scanned receipts :-). I reconcile from MD to the
(downloaded) bank statement monthly (in an ideal world...).
But, as you can see, this whole process sort of grinds to a halt
without transactions to download.
- Larry.
