This is because Moneydance obeys the account type information in the
OFX/OFC/QFX file. It seems like your bank may be declaring your CC
account to be something other than a credit card in the OFX file.
Would it be possible to send a copy of the file to sreilly at moneydance.com
so that I can verify the cause and hopefully fix it?

You should be able to re-display the import panel by clicking the "you
have pending transactions" link at the bottom of the register or by
selecting the Online->Show Downloaded Transaction button/menu. The
transactions shouldn't have been duplicated however, except for
possibly if you were importing from QIF. I would recommend importing
from OFX, OFC or QFX files as they have transaction identifiers that
allow Moneydance to filter duplicate downloaded transactions.
