[moneydance] Does anyone else have a problem with this user interface behavior?

Another place I've seen this sort of thing, being unable to simply back out
of something as if it had never happened, has to do with launching the
program.
I tried to reproduce this situation just now and was unable to do so, so
maybe it's been fixed, but I'm also just a little fuzzy on how I end up
here...
I think it happens when I open Moneydance by mistake when it's already
open. As I say, when I tried to do it just now, it simply replaced the
open instance of MD with a new one, re-opening the MD file (also, by the
way, discarding the changes I had made in the first instance).
Somehow, other times, I've ended up with a popup message warning me that
the backup file is newer than the one I'm trying to open. Now, I'm not a
computer idiot (really, I'm not), but time and time again, I've studied
this message trying to figure out the right thing to do. What I *want* to
do is go back in time and not do what made this message pop up --
typically, this would be handled with some sort of "Cancel" option -- and
leave all the data intact. Invariably, no matter how much I try to figure
out what to click on, it's the wrong thing, and I end up losing all the
entries I've just made.
It's a bad enough result that I typically Alt-Tab (yes, this is Windows)
away from the whole mess, make copies of all the MD data files, answer the
question (probably wrong), and then go through opening the data files to
find the one that has the entries I've just made.
But, as I say, I can't make it happen right now, so maybe this has been
fixed (although it's disconcerting that the open file with "dirty" records
is simply replaced with a fresh copy of what's already been saved).
OK, stranger still...
Open, make changes, open (changes seem to be lost), close, open, the
changes are there after all.
<but>
Open, make changes, open (changes seem to be lost), make changes, close,
the latest changes are retained.
But I still can't get that popup message to appear...
