Here's a follow-up to my previous message, quoted below.
I was checking this tonight while entering some investment transactions. In
my tests, the way clairvoyance works for the top-level category name is
different from the way it works for the sub-category.
When typing the top-level category name, when MD finds a category that
matches what has been typed to that point, it displays the complete category
name and selects only the characters that follow the last character actually
typed. Now if I type one more character of the category name, it replaces
only the selected (trailing) characters, and MD immediately matches on the
same category again, and again selects only the characters following the
last one I actually typed. I could type in the entire category name, and it
would end up with the proper category.
When typing a sub-category name (after typing a colon), as soon as MD
matches on a sub-category, it immediately displays the sub-category it finds
and selects ALL the text of that sub-category name, so that if I type one
more character in the name, that character replaces all the matched text,
and MD starts searching for a match again based on just that one character,
which will be wrong. For this method to work, I have to type each letter
one-at-a-time, and see if the match occurs before typing another character.
Since I'm a fast touch-typist, it's very easy to overrun the matching
algorithm and have to start over. Very aggravating.
