[moneydance] Cannot use memos in "child" transactions

I just noticed that in release 583 I can only write a memo in the memo  box on the "parent" side of a transaction, or the side where it was  originally created.  The memo box is not accessible on the other side.   I prefer it to be like the check number box which can show a different  entry.  I thought that it used to be that way. 
 
Any comments?
