[moneydance] Investment account Issues

Hi all, I had attempted (various ways) to import my Quicken for Mac  
data to MD.  I have wound up with a fairly screwed up mess and am  
attempting to correct it.  The question for the night are:

1] Why in the register of an investment account can I not enter a  
transaction (greyed out)?  I would think I should be able to enter  
transactions that would be charged margin interest if my cash balance  
becomes negative, etc.

2] How do I just place a beginning balance of shares in an account.  I  
do not want to xfr funds from another account as this will show up in  
reports elsewhere.  I just need a beginning balance for both cash and  
securities already in the account.  How do I get this done.
