[moneydance] Problems running MD Java?

I had MD working fine on Kubuntu Feisty a while ago but hosed the system
and had to format my / partition (not /home) reload it.

To prepare the new drive as before I mounted the old one at /mnt/dapper
and copied over the following directories:

cd /mnt/dapper
cp -a /mnt/dapper/home/lba/.moneydance/ /home/lba/
cp -a /mnt/dapper/opt/moneydance/ /opt/
and
cp -a /mnt/dapper/root/.moneydance/ /root/

Then I used apt-get to install Java 6 but MD would not run - it just
throbbed. So I used apt-get remove to remove Java 6 and installed Java
5 with
apt-get install sun-java5-jvm.

This message appears to be proper when I run
sudo update-java-alternatives -l
java-1.5.0-sun 53 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun

Yet MD still won't run - it just throbs.

Is there any way to examine the Moneydance files to see which Java it
expects to run?

Larry
