When I was a Quicken user, one of the ways I worked around its shortcomings
was to import and export data in QIF files, and pick them apart in other
applications. For example, when online banking was new, Quicken had no
logic for avoiding duplication, so I passed the downloaded data through an
access database and put my own duplication avoidance logic into it. I
could write pages about the ways I worked around Quicken's shortcomings.

So for me, when Intuit sunsetted the QIF file, making it impossible to
exchange data with anything else, it was a deal breaker. I was so glad to
hear about Moneydance, just in the nick of time (I was actually looking at
MS Money... eek).

So, yeah, I'm glad for all the ways Moneydance will pass data around.
What's funny about it is that a lot of the UI design just works better
(kinda makes you think the programmers actually use the software, you
know), and I don't find quite as much need for it as I did with Quicken.
