I don't download investment account transactions so your paragraph One
works for me. For my many years of MD use, the one thing I would like
are linked accounts but Sean doesn't see the need.
I have a bank account for Foo cash and use it the same as we did in
Quicken. I never have a cash balance in my portfolio, if I do, there
is an error. You will see every cash transaction in the cash account
whereas in the portfolio cash section much remains a mystery. I'm not
sure how you would find downloaded cash transactions in the Portfolio
cash except from your monthly statements. Most months I have mainly
cash transactions, [Int/Div Income] and sometimes Account Interest.
Buys and sells are all transfers via the cash account.
Matching one's Account statemnent for totals means adding the
portfolio and cash accounts but that isn't a big dea for two numbers.
My Account statements show a cash Account balance and I expect it to
match my cash account.
if your Investment activity is high then you may need to download your
transactions so using the Portfolio cash is your only option. I
assume that your import is just from the startup QIF files. Doesn't a
transfer to Portfolio cash work?
I hope that you find a solution which works for you.
