I don't presently have a cat, so I don't think that's necessary. :-)

It's been a while, but I don't think I did anything strange, just run the
installer. However, I do know that I had issues with the 64-bit version
of Java. In fact, I don't know if it's still there, but there used to be
a warning on Sun's site that you were probably better off to install the
32-bit version of Java even if you were on a 64-bit system. I removed the
64-bit version from my system and installed the 32-bit version. I don't
recall if that was for Moneydance or for another Java app, but I do recall
doing it. But I'm still using the one embedded with Moneydance to run
it. Maybe you could try removing the Sun java (and any other Java you
have installed) entirely temporarily, install Moneydance with the embedded
jre, then reinstall Java if you need it?
