I'm not running MD on a 64 bit machine, but I have some 64 bit experience.

All the MD downloads for Linux seem to be x86, not 64 bit.  It may still work, 
but you will need to point MD to a 64 bit java.  The above suggests it was 
trying to get and install an x86 version of java.  I've not used Ubuntu, but 
I assume it has a 64 bit version you can install if you don't have it 
installed already.

If MD doesn't see the 64 bit jre when you install it, tell it no to 
downloading a jre.  Then create a sym link ( ~/moneydance/jre ) that points 
to your 64 bit jre.

Those are the steps I would take, but I can't try them here.

There are also 32 bit compatibility libraries available so you can run 32 bit 
apps, but I can't help you there.  Someone else here might be able to or the 
Ubuntu site might be of help.
