[moneydance] Cannot sell stocks

If I try to enter a stock sale transaction, I get a pop-up to allocate 
shares to the transaction.  However, there are many old sales left 
unallocated.  If I try to select the oldest sale and allocate the number 
of shares sold from the available column, I always get a "wrong number 
of shares" message, and I have to escape out without saving the 
transaction. 
This is a security that has never split, so that should not be an issue.
