Rather than "many" I should have said "some." One example is that my
wife and I have separate credit cards, but the same bank account.
When payments appear on these credit cards, they show up with the
payee field set to:
  HSBC XXXXXX123456789
or
  HSBC XXXXXX987654321
depending on which card is being paid off. The numeric part is
significant when determining whether the category should be set to my
wife's or my credit card account.

I've also learned never to make assumptions about what financial
institutions will put into the fields in their customer's downloads.

The new algorithm will take both text and numeric parts into account,
but now that you mention it I will weight a match on the non-numeric
part of the description higher than a match on only the numeric part.

Thanks,
Sean
