[moneydance] Import ignores requested defaults?

Hello,

Whenever I import QIF files I heave to go through many fields and
re-adjust them -
Import from a file, Date Format (most annoying) and another field I
can't remember right now.
I set the default date format in MD's settings when I installed it but
it keeps being offered as "automatic" in the import window (and
"automatic" always takes the dates as American).

Is these something I'm missing about this?  It's getting annoying to
have to go through all the fields every time.
