I have been going round and round with Mercer/Putnam for years now.
What you can print from their website, what you can download from their
website in QIF or CSV format and what you get using Quicken's QFX
download or Moneydance's QFX/OFX download are all different. I'm not
sure any of them add up to the totals that you get on your printed
quarterly statement. At least that is the case for my wife's account.
At the present time, I personally am most comfortable downloading in QFX
format into Quicken, fixing the 14 % of the transactions that came in
incorrectly as negative income instead of Reinvested interest, then
exporting in QIF format, massaging about 70% of the descriptions in a
word processor(Lotus WordPro, no less) then importing the result into
Moneydance. There are still about 12 transactions a year that are
patently incorrect that I must still fix manually. I get 95
transactions each pay period.
When I ask them why the results are different using different methods,
they shrug and say that they are simply following Intuit's guidelines.
Good luck but be sure to print out all the transactions onto low acid paper.
