[moneydance] Moneydance fails to start

More info....
When I tried manually replacing moneydance.jar, i found it to be in
use. There were no moneydance icons in the windows task bar or on the
applications page of the task manager. Using Process Explorer, I found
11 instances of moneydance running!!! After re-booting, things work
right again, except that now I'm temporarily back to build 526.
Is it a reportable bug that moneydance can run invisibly with no way to
kill it short of re-booting?
