Well this is exactly what you asked for; an idea.
Check your Linux 'desktop' settings for whatever version you are using. If it 
is set to provide a fresh clean desktop or is it set to restore the last one 
or is there a default that requires editing. This is an issue that I have 
seen a number of times with several Linux apps that have nothing to do with 
the app itself.
