[moneydance] Import question ... I'm desperate!

Sean,
Hello. I am in the process of evaluating Moneydance. The problem I have
relates to importing transaction data via the "Text File Importer" (TFI)
extension.
A little background. I've been using Managing Your Money (MYM) for about 10
years on my Mac ... Moneydance (MD) appears to be the closest replacement on
the OS X platform. Unfortunately MYM does not export in any of the formats
that MD imports ... the only solution I've come across is to export all of
my MYM transactions into a text file (using their reporting tool) ... and
then massage as necessary to get into a format that the "Text File Importer"
understands. And that is where I've hit a wall.
First of all, do is there any documentation on the "Text File Importer?"
I've look "high and low" on your website and have search the web to no
avail. Secondly, after playing with the TFI I just can't see how the
available fields would cover the required data. From what I can tell, the
only fields the TFI can import are:
Date
Check Number
Description
Account
Status
Amount
Memo
My questions:
1) How does TFI handle split transactions? This list doesn't appear to
contain the necessary fields.
2) When I export manually entered transactions from MD using the Tab
Delimited format, I notice fields that aren't included in the TFI tool ...
Credit Status, Debit Status, Rate, Split Count, etc. I would have thought
that the fields would be identical.
3) And, again, is there a documentation for the "Text File Importer?" Maybe
having that would answer all of my questions.
Thanks so much,
Mark
