To customize your data file, accounts can be added, removed, and modified. There are two simple
ways add, delete, or modify accounts: using the Chart of Accounts that is accessible from the
Tools menu, or by selecting an account in the main window and using one of the items under
the Account menu.
To customize your accounts using the chart of accounts, click on the Tools->Chart of Accounts
menu. A window will be displayed which shows your accounts in an hierarchical format. To perform
a function on an account, click on the account name with the right mouse button. If your mouse does
not have a right mouse button, then hold down the Control (Ctrl) key while clicking on the account
name. This will display a pop-up menu which provides the following options: New, Edit,
Delete. Selecting the Edit or Delete options will edit or delete the account
that was clicked on. The New option will begin the process of creating a new account as a
sub-account of the account that was clicked (if possible).
To customize your accounts using the main menu, click the Account menu, then select
New, Edit, or Delete.
Creating a New Account
To create a new account, select the Account->New menu, or the New option from the
popup menu in the chart of accounts. This will display a wizard that takes
you through the account creation process.
The first step of the process requires you to select the type of account that you would like to
create. If you would like to create a "category" as in Quicken(tm), you should create either
an Income or Expense account. Now click the Next button to continue.
The next panel requests more detailed information about that account that is being created.
Information entered here includes the account name, the currency associated with the account,
and possibly a starting balance, account number, etc. Once all of the information has been
entered, click the OK button to finish creating the account.
Editing an Existing Account
To edit an account, open the account in the main window and click the Account->Edit
menu, or select Edit from the popup in the chart of accounts. This will display a
window that allows editing of the account name, currency, and any other information that
is specific to that type of account.
Removing an Account
To remove an account, open the account in the main window and click the Account->Delete
menu, or select Delete from the popup in the chart of accounts. If the selected account has
transactions or is referenced by a reminder then you will be asked for confirmation before
the account is deleted.
