Hello, I never had the problems you described with the old IPhone app, syncing and balance errors.

I downloaded the new app, and everything worked well for a while.

But yesterday I deleted an entry in one account, and was surprised to see that the balance wasn't calculated again. I tried many things but the balance remained wrong. I'm far from my computer so I can't sync to check if it fixes thé problem.

Michael Evans, I have to disagree with you on the investments. I also track my investments and budget with MD. I believe the iPhone app should contain all of these. Why do you use MD desktop version? I would have to think it is so you have ONE spot to go for all your financial needs. This is why I, and I am sure all others, use MD. To have MD iPhone app have all these features would let me eliminate two to three other crappy apps on my iPhone and just use MD. That would be great. MD has a great product and by introducing other features into the iPhone app would make it an outstanding app.

MD..keep up the good work and I cannot wait for the budget to be added, and cloud syncing!!!

Given that a try, it imported the data (well some of it, presumably truncated due to demo license?), however - all the accounts are showing a balance of zero after import. Can't work out what needs to be done? Tried changing the initial balance, but that doesn't make any difference.

Jim,
In the category area of an entry, click on the up/down arrows on the right-hand side and the "split" button is at the top above the categories.

I just downloaded MD to explore using it to replace MS Money. I haven't been able to determine how to apply multiple splits to a transaction. Need help!

Hi Sean,

Really good to get the debugged and improved version of the iPhone app - with the native iPad version an added bonus (and a good implementation of the landscape sidebar display). The rounding has been cured (obviously) but I am particularly pleased to see the improved entry screen with buttons for Description and Category and, joy of joys, automatic linking of Description and Category as in the desktop program.

There are still a few outstanding issues but none of them critical:

1) Comma delimitation of thousands in entries and account balances
2) Debugging the missing GBP and EUR currency symbols (possibly amongst others)
3) Ability to collapse and expand account groups as on the desktop application
4) Cloud syncing

I applaud your decision not to make this application too ambitious. Eventually, I suppose, you might wish to turn it into full package that could act as a standalone; but there are already many such products in the AppStore and I suspect most Moneydance users want good, reliable syncing with the mothership. I've seen comments about the lack of support for investments and, although I make full use of the desktop investment section, I see no real reason to have this complication in the iPhone/iPad application. There are plenty of good investment-tracking apps to give regular updates on valuations without having to bog down the Moneydance app with too much stuff.

In the meantime, good stuff. The arrival of this companion app is saving me a lot of time, not only in updating Moneydance, but also when reconciling bank accounts and credit card accounts where, in the past, I forgot to enter at point of transaction. Now I have no excuse.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I just downloaded and synced the new app with my ipod and I can't tell you how happy I am. I have been looking for an app to be able to enter my transactions on-the-go forever. I even considered switching over to iBank for no other reason than because they had that capability. So I was very relieved to find Moneydance offering the same and free! After reading through all the comments on here, I realize how much time and effort you must have put in to make this program. So, I just want to let you know that it is VERY much appreciated! Cheers! ^^

Hi,

I'm trying out Moneydance on the Mac and the iPhone. So far sync works but there is no option to Apply VAT in the iPhone app. Thus, for VAT-related transactions which we need to record, they are not reflected properly in the reports.

Do you have a workaround for this without requiring me to check the transactions after sync and reapplying VAT which is a mess.

Thanks,
Jack
