I am very happy to announce that Moneydance 2007 is now available! The new version can now be downloaded from the main Moneydance download page. The primary improvements over Moneydance 2006 include:
- Budget graph in the toolbar that shows the state of your income and expenses compared to your budget
- Net worth history graph in the main toolbar showing the general trend of your finances
- New budget manager allowing much more flexible budget planning
- New budget report showing your budget status for multiple time periods side-by-side
- Improvements to investment portfolio view such as cost basis for individual securities as well as overall cost basis and portfolio value
- More polished graphing (using JFreeChart) including the ability to zoom in to any portion of the graph and to get information for each point in the graph with a simple swipe of the mouse
- Additional reports such as Income/Expenses and a true Cash Flow report
- A new summary graph on the home page that shows an overview of your expenses or income for a period of your choosing, updated instantly
- A vast number of user interface improvements, making the starting “home page” screen more informative while appearing less cluttered
We’ve also made a huge number of bug fixes – too many to include here.
Please download a copy and tell your friends!

Is there an upgrade cost for users from 2006 to 2007 ?

The upgrade to MD 2007 from 2006 (and 2005) is free. Users who purchased Moneydance before 1/1/2004 can purchase MD2007 for half price ($14.99) by entering their license key in the purchase page (http://moneydance.com/purchase)

First impression (by definition really) is on the new icon. Incredibly overbusy — icons should be… well, iconic; don’t try to cram a full illustration in there! :)
Sorry to say I’ve bumped into a pretty important bug. I can’t find anywhere else on thsi site to post bug reports, so I have to put it here I guess…. :\
I tried to create a new loan. Worked fine, except when I tried to create reminders for it, that dialog is all screwed up — half the controls are invisible/missing. I can email you a screenshot if you give me an address. This is on Mac OS 10.4.8 PPC.

strider72,
You can submit bug reports, including screenshots and other attachments, at http://trac.moneydance.com/trac/
A screenshot would be great since I’m using the same configuration as you but don’t have a problem with the loan reminder window. If you could include the version of Java being used from the Moneydance->About window that might also help.

I’ve upgraded to your new version. I’m using MacOs 10.4.8. So far I have one description: awesome! It opens in about 3 seconds (the other version took about a half a minute) and all of the new features are really cool. Also, I like your new icon. So far, all of the little glitches the other version had are gone, and things seem to be working great. Thanks!

Wow! You guys have done such an awesome job with this release. I have to admit that I went back to 2005 after a few rough run-ins with 2006. I can tell a lot of hard work has been put into this release, and it is bar none the best Moneydance release I’ve used to date. The new reports are gorgeous and have a lot more flexibility with criteria where needed, and the interface is beautiful, functionally consistent, and again configurable. (I appreciate having one-line view back. :-) )
I really appreciate that you made this a free upgrade for 2k5 users.
Thank you guys so much, and keep up the good work!

Can you share the time frame for drill down reports and multiple account transaction downloading? All other things seem to be great. I am thrilled to finally have an option to quicken!!!

I like the new version, seems to work very well. I really wish there was a version designed to run from USB. The Java version does run from USB but it is not designed to. Like remember license info or where the money file is (since USB might use a different drive number).

jhmac77; yes it does install on Ubuntu 7.04. At least it did for me. Remember that you must use sudo. Open a command line terminal and type sudo . It will install in /opt/moneydance. In that directory will be Moneydance.desktop. Copy that file to your desktop for click and run. Having said that however, you will probably find that you cant print anything. I have tried 3 Linux distros, all with cups printing installed, and none will print reports or checks. Some can, some can’t, and support for this issue has been vague at best. Moneydance, how about posting a step by step procedure to fix this?

On Linux platform, it doesn’t print anything.

On some versions of Linux, there is a CUPS error that must be solved.
